Sponsor a Referee Clinic

My soccer club wants to have a clinic for referees. How do we do that?

First select the type of clinic you wish to host. This should be based on the needs of your association and referee pool. Then select a date (or dates) and location.

At least 30 days before your organization wishes to have the clinic, contact the District Director of Referee Instruction for your area. A link is provided below for your conveneince. At that time the district director will need a list of proposed dates and times, a location (with street address) and a contact person for the clinic. Download Clinic Request Form here. After a review of this information, you will receive confirmation of your clinic.

Once confirmation is received, you may announce it, and applicants may begin registering for the clinic through the STSR (www.stsr.org).

The clinic will be posted on the STSR website. All participants must register through the STSR on-line registration system prior to the clinic. No applicants will be accepted at the clinic. Payment for clinics and USSF registration is collected prior to the clinic.

You can download this clinc request form and forward it to the District Director of Instruction and/or the STSR office. It has all the information you will be required to provide before a clinic can be approved.

Download Clinic Request Form here.

What do we need to host a clinic?

If your organization wishes to sponsor a clinic, you will need:
1. A minimum of 20 candidates is usually required to host a clinic. This number may vary depending upon the location and size of the meeting room. The clinic fee is $25 per candidate. (Sponsors willing to guarantee the minimum clinic fee of $500 may waive the minimum attendance requirement.)
2. A classroom atmosphere - desks or tables and chairs for all participants to be able to take notes and the test.
3. A screen or other suitable white space for use by instructors; a chalk board or dry erasable board.
4. Adult supervision for minors during the breaks and lunch periods. Instructors are not intended to be chaperones.
